HazMat (haz´mat’);
noun:
1. An
abbreviation for “Hazardous Material” a substance capable of
causing harm to people, property, and/or the environment; may be
found in the home, the workplace and in all types of
transportation;
2. A HazMat
incident requires specially trained teams acting in a defensive
fashion to contain the immediate danger area known as the
“Hot Zone”, to keep it from spreading and to prevent
exposures to nearby persons, property or
environment;
